At The WaterShed, volunteers help inspire curiosity, connect our community to local water resources, and create a healthier future for the Treasure Valley. Whether you enjoy working with people, caring for outdoor spaces, supporting educational programs or taking action on climate and water issues, there’s a place for your skills and passions here. Most volunteer roles involve a minimum of a once-a-month commitment, making it easy to get involved in a meaningful and manageable way while helping protect the places and resources we all depend on.

Climate Action Volunteer Opportunities
Do you love the environment and want to build a strong community? So do we! Join The City of Boise for hands-on climate action volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including trash cleanups, invasive plant removal, tree planting, and more. Together, we can help keep Boise healthy, resilient, and thriving!
No ongoing commitment necessary, just a willingness to get involved and make a difference. Once you sign up you will get monthly emails with climate volunteer opportunities and learning opportunities.
Become a Master Naturalist
The Idaho Master Naturalist Program is a corps of well-informed stewards of Idaho’s natural environment. If you enjoy outdoor recreation, bird watching, identifying plants and animals, gardening and supporting conservation through volunteerism, you’ll love the Master Naturalist Program.
There are eight chapters in Idaho, and The WaterShed is a partner in the City of Trees chapter. Applications are accepted year-round and new cohorts typically begin in February of each year.

Join the Youth Climate Action Council
The City of Boise is bringing youth leaders to the table to drive climate solutions. The Youth Climate Action Council is a diverse and dynamic group of student leaders from across the city who inspire action in our community and get a behind-the-scenes look at local climate action planning.
